Graphic design is a broad field, and can range from poster design, to stationery design, to even designing signage and vehicle graphics. Apps like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign are perfect for graphic designers. However, there are a lot of beginner mistakes designers often make using these apps, and fortunately these mistakes are often easily avoidable with the right guidance and experience.

Designing for the web and the latest digital devices can seem relatively simple. However, there are many mistakes (especially related to user experience design) that designers often make, that can have a huge impact on user engagement and metrics like conversions. Good UI design paired with great UX design is an absolute must for digital designers in 2024.

Some of the most iconic logo designs, visually appear simple at first glance. However, the skill required to take the values and characteristics of a brand, and distill this down into a simple and effective mark, is an art form in and of itself. The biggest mistake I see with a lot of logo designs, is the technical execution of the final product, and this can often be traced back to either a flawed design process, or by using the wrong tools to actually create the design.

Photo-manipulation is one of my favourite things to do, and is essentially the art of combining multiple images together, to create virtually anything. This could be a fantasy scene, something surreal, or impossible and other-worldly - the possibilities with photo-manipulation is limited only by your imagination. The challenge however, is to make the end result look professional, and fortunately with the right knowledge of the correct tools and processes, this can be made considerably easier.
